The Challenge

College of DuPage was established in 1967 in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. It is one of the largest single campus community college in the United States and the second-largest institution of higher education in Illinois. With more than 30,000 students attending per semester, College of DuPage provides an educational experience for nearly 25 percent of all high school graduates in Community College.

College of DuPage has been a valued customer of Enhance Technology since 2003; they first purchased eight (8) Enhance Technology’s UltraStor RS16 SATA units for some local AVID storage in which they had very good experience with it. This year, College of DuPage came back to Enhance Technology for two (2) more enterprise storage units, the UltraStor Series with one UltraStor RS16 FS (Fibre Channel) and one enterprise JBOD storage, the RS16 JS (JBOD) for storage expansion via SAS expansion port creating an addition of 32TB of Fibre SAN storage system for video editing.

Reliability, Functionality and Performance

The implementation for RS16 FS and RS16 JS went smooth and easy as planned for College of DuPage. Whenever they needed any support, the engineers at Enhance Technology always helped him right away. “The SAN array is 100% functional and AVID share SAN storage with other clients!” says Elmir Husetovic, Lead Video Systems Engineer from College of DuPage.

College of DuPage uses Window Server 2008 as master storage controller for both NAS & SAN, and uses MetaSAN for Avid Adrenaline & Final Cut Pro with AJA Kona LHe. Enhance Technology’s UltraStor RS16 Fibre Channel are fully tested with MetaSAN SAN management software and together they offer impressive results revealing improved performance SAN. Tiger Technology’s MetaSAN turns the UltraStor products into a powerful, cross-platform, file-level sharing SAN by eliminating the risk of file-system corruption that would otherwise occur when multiple computers access the same disks.
