The Scenario

Music Mountain, dedicated to bringing the ultimate A/V (audio/video) experience to the next level with their high performance line of A/V Player Processors, was looking for a cost effective, mid-sized, reliable storage for media such as music and movie storage and streaming. To solve this problem, Music Mountain looked at the ULTRASTOR™ RS16 IP to increase their current and future storage capacity for storing A/V, media, music, movie and streaming.

After exhaustive research, looking into various storage units and talking to numerous sales people at different companies, Enhance Technology remained their number one choice.

Enhance Experience

In July of 2002, Music Mountain began using Enhance Technology’s original U160 SCSI array, but as iSCSI became available they naturally migrated to the GbE interface.

Music Mountain’s goal was to stream multiple media sources simultaneously to any number of remote audio or video clients up to the LAN’s bandwidth capacity.

The ULTRASTOR RS16 IP was an ideal solution for Music Mountain because it has dual GbE ports, making network attachment a breeze and runs up to 10 times faster than a NAS system. More importantly, he has a life long love for home theater and audio entertainment. This combination of experience and desire allowed him to engineer a system that not only has meticulous attention to detail in the system design and performance, but also has a strong emphasis on integration. This complete integration is not only with the A/V system in the home theater room, but with consideration that the A/V system should be enjoyed throughout the entire home. To that end, the development of the AVPP was focused on a creating a listening and viewing atmosphere that would not be restricted to a single room, but instead could be enjoyed throughout the home, and would further leverage the power of the Internet to enhance the experience.
